The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has called on recently promoted military officers to step up their efforts in tackling the prevailing insecurity in the country.

Following the approval of the promotion of 217 senior officers by the Army, Navy, and Air Force boards on Thursday, Matawalle congratulated the officers and emphasized their crucial role in addressing the security challenges facing certain regions.

In a statement released on Sunday by the Director of Press at the Ministry of Defence, Henshaw Ogubike, the minister stressed that the nation looks to these officers to eliminate the pervasive insecurity.

Matawalle commended their dedication and meritorious service to the country, noting that their promotion reflects the values of discipline, bravery, and professionalism inherent in the Nigerian Armed Forces.

“As you ascend to higher ranks, the nation places an even greater trust in your capabilities. I charge each of you to redouble your efforts and collaborate across services to decisively tackle the security challenges facing our country,” Matawalle conveyed in the statement.

Highlighting the people’s expectations, he added, “The Nigerian people look up to you, our newly promoted Generals, to bring an end to the insecurity that has plagued certain regions. Your leadership, strategic vision, and dedication will be pivotal in restoring peace, unity, and prosperity to our nation.”

Matawalle reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to providing the Armed Forces with necessary resources and support.

He expressed confidence in the capabilities of the newly promoted officers to lead with integrity, courage, and excellence.
