The Minister of Defence, Muhammad Abubakar Badaru, arrived in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Thursday and directed troops of Operation Fansar Yamma to capture notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.
Badaru was received by Major General Oluyinka Olalekan, Commander of the Joint Taskforce Northwest, and the state’s Deputy Governor, Mani Mumini, alongside other officials.
Speaking at One Brigade Headquarters, the Minister emphasized that President Bola Tinubu has been closely monitoring troop activities in the region and acknowledged some improvements in the fight against terrorism. However, he noted that there are still challenges.
Badaru said, “The President urged me to thank you and to encourage you to intensify efforts to combat insecurity in these areas and across the country. He is ready to provide all necessary resources to end insecurity in the Northwest and Nigeria.”
The Minister urged the troops to take decisive action in capturing Bello Turji, a known leader of bandits in the region, asking, “Are you ready to finish with them? Are you ready to end it? Please get me Turji.”
This visit follows a recent meeting in Abuja between Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, Badaru, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, where security issues were discussed.
