At least five individuals have been confirmed dead, while four others sustained injuries following a joint US-Israeli strike on a pier in southern Iran, the country’s state news agency IRNA reported on Sunday.
The report stated that the attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, targeting the Bandar Pol pier in Bandar Khamir County, situated in Hormozgan province along the Persian Gulf.
The strike reportedly caused damage to two vessels and a vehicle at the site.
Tensions in the region have intensified since Israel and the United States initiated a military offensive against Iran on February 28.
The campaign has resulted in over 1,340 deaths so far, including Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In response, Iran has carried out drone and missile attacks aimed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military installations. These retaliatory strikes have led to casualties, infrastructure damage, and significant disruptions to global markets as well as international aviation.
