Popular Nigerian rapper and actor, Ikechukwu Onunaku, has disclosed details of his time under the MoHits records, shedding light on pay discrepancies and the significant role played by D’Banj’s mother in decision-making.

During a conversation with media personality Daddy Freeze on Instagram Live, Ikechukwu recounted instances where he was booked for shows ranging from N1 million to N2 million, but D’Banj, also known as the Kokomaster, would only pay him N50,000, making it seem like a favor.

“When we used to go on the road, they would pay Banga money, and Banga would act like he was doing me a favor. He would give me N50k. Back then, I used to book shows worth N1.5m, N1m, N2m,” Ikechukwu explained.

The rapper-turned-actor revealed that after a disagreement and subsequent discussions with D’Banj’s mother, his pay was eventually increased to N150,000.

“When we fought, he increased it and said, ‘I talked to mommy, we will increase it to N150k,'” Ikechukwu added.

In addition, Ikechukwu disclosed the influential role of D’Banj’s mother within MoHits, emphasizing that no decisions were made without her approval.

“Mummy is D’Banj’s mum; she was part of the record label spiritually. Ask Don Jazzy, they didn’t make decisions without Momsi giving the okay for a very long time,” he stated.

Addressing rumors of physical altercations with D’Banj, Ikechukwu clarified that such incidents never occurred.
