Senior Pastors of Lagos-based church, Daystar Christian Centre, Sam and Nike Adeyemi, have announced the resumption of the church’s physical Sunday worship services effective October 18, 2020.
This was contained in a statement on Sunday titled, ‘Daystar Christian Centre Resumes Physical Worship Services’.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had in August okayed the reopening of worship centres in the state after over four months of closure due to lockdown occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.
Sanwo-Olu also advised worshippers to obey health protocol during services including physical distancing, use of face masks and good hygiene practice.
Following the announcement, the couple, who co-pastors the church, had said that the church won’t reopen immediately for physical services until it was safe to do so.
But in an update on Sunday, the leadership of the church said it would resume physical Sunday worship services starting from October 18 while its mid-week services would continue to hold online.
The statement partly read,
“The leadership of Daystar Christian Centre, Lagos, has announced the resumption of her physical Sunday worship services beginning from Sunday, October 18th, 2020.
“Sunday worship services will be conducted in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols and government’s laid down directives. From the stated date, Sunday worship services will hold while the mid-week services and other events continue online. Junior Church services will continue to hold online-only pending further review.
“At all centres (Oregun, Lekki, Ikorodu, Badagry Alimosho, and The Star Hub), well-trained officials will be on ground to maintain order and follow government’s laid down crowd control protocols. We urge everyone to cooperate with them.
“God will answer our prayers for this siege to be over very soon and we pray God’s protection over our families in Jesus’ name.”
