The father of Afrobeats star Davido has spoken publicly for the first time on the long-standing paternity dispute involving his son, David Adeleke, and a child known as Anu.

At a press conference, the elder Adeleke said he currently has 14 grandchildren and stressed that accepting another child would not have been an issue if scientific evidence had confirmed the girl as his granddaughter.

He disclosed that in 2014, he received a letter from a lawyer based in Ibadan alleging that Davido had impregnated a woman and subsequently abandoned her and the child.

He said the family responded by requesting a DNA test, which, according to him, has remained the foundation of their position on the matter.

“What is one more child? Is it that I cannot afford to take care of her?” he asked, noting that the family’s approach was never about denial but about establishing the truth through scientific proof.

The billionaire businessman also expressed concern over what he described as the impersonation of a minor on social media.

He alleged that Anu’s aunt informed him that controversial media figure Kemi Olunloyo was allegedly responsible for the Instagram account operated in the child’s name.

He added that he had repeatedly advised Davido to ignore Kemi Olunloyo, citing the widely known estrangement between her and her biological son.

“I felt it was time, as the head of the family, to come out and tell our own side of the story,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, Davido’s father reiterated that if a DNA test had confirmed the child’s paternity, the Adeleke family would have accepted her without hesitation.
