Nigerian music star, Davido, has unfollowed Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo on Instagram following the emergence of a leaked WhatsApp conversation that has stirred controversy across social media platforms.
The dispute began after online commentator VeryDarkMan shared screenshots of alleged messages in which Iyabo Ojo criticized Davido for what she described as insincere support for the late singer Mohbad. In the messages, Ojo expressed frustration over Davido’s continued Instagram following of Naira Marley, despite his public involvement in the Justice for Mohbad movement.
“My problem is not even with that black whatever, it is Davido who flew down like he claimed to fight for justice, but he still dey follow Naira Marley,” she wrote.
“That means he was chasing clout. I’m so disappointed and to think he has been saying he is the only superstar artist who stood by Mohbad. Just fake love 001.”
The actress’s remarks quickly drew strong online reactions and are believed to have prompted Davido to sever social media ties by unfollowing her. However, as of the time of this report, Iyabo Ojo still follows Davido on Instagram.
Mohbad died in September 2023 under unclear circumstances, sparking nationwide protests and widespread calls for justice. Davido was among the celebrities who participated in candlelight vigils and online campaigns demanding answers.
Iyabo Ojo was a vocal advocate during the movement, even forming a WhatsApp group to coordinate activities and amplify public pressure. In a recent interview, she expressed regret over pushing for Mohbad’s body to be exhumed as part of the ongoing investigation.
