Nigerian singer, Davido, has sparked speculation online after unfollowing media mogul Dele Momodu, the uncle of his first daughter’s mother, on Instagram.
Checks reveal that while Davido has unfollowed Momodu, the Ovation TV boss continues to follow the singer.
The move comes shortly after Momodu shared an Instagram post addressing ongoing tensions within the family. In his update, he assured the public that there was no cause for alarm, emphasizing that discussions were happening privately and expressing hope for a peaceful resolution.
“The conversations are ongoing behind the scenes, and we remain optimistic that matters will be resolved amicably,” Momodu wrote, aiming to calm supporters who had grown concerned about public exchanges.
Despite Momodu’s reassurance, Davido’s unfollowing has introduced a new layer of intrigue into the unfolding situation.
This development follows last week’s court proceedings involving Davido and his daughter’s mother, Sophia Momodu. Reports indicate that Davido became frustrated during cross-examination, though he later clarified that he was seeking joint custody, not full custody, of his daughter. In an emotional statement, the singer announced he was dropping the case and assured his daughter that he fought for her well-being.
Dele Momodu has previously commented publicly on the matter. In 2024, when Davido filed for joint custody, Momodu noted that Sophia had been primarily responsible for their daughter’s care. He also shared that he attempted to mediate by involving Davido’s father, Deji Adeleke, and uncle, Ademola Adeleke.
Meanwhile, Sophia Momodu’s lawyer, Ebelechukwu Enedah, has continued to react to events surrounding the custody case. In a petition addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Enedah alleged that Davido harassed, intimidated, and cyberbullied her during and after court proceedings, citing threats via text messages, phone calls, and alleged threats to her life.
Amid the tension, Davido recently celebrated his reunion with his first daughter, Imade, in a viral social media post. The singer shared heartwarming photos of himself with Imade, as well as images including her grandfather and uncle, delighting fans.
Supporters praised Davido for his efforts to be present in his daughter’s life and encouraged Sophia Momodu to acknowledge the singer’s involvement.
