Award-winning Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reunited with his first daughter, Imade Adeleke, following a prolonged custody battle with her mother, Sophia Momodu.

Recall that the custody dispute between Davido and Sophia has been ongoing since 2022.

In April 2024, Davido filed a lawsuit at the Lagos State High Court, seeking custody of Imade.

He alleged that Sophia had consistently denied him access to their daughter.

In response to the lawsuit, Sophia submitted a 102-paragraph counter-affidavit opposing Davido’s claims. She accused the singer of neglecting his parental responsibilities after she refused to continue a sexual relationship with him.

Sophia’s uncle, veteran journalist Dele Momodu, commented on the situation via a Facebook post, revealing that the court had directed the matter to the Alternative Dispute Resolution channel in hopes of a possible settlement.

In a significant development on Wednesday night, Davido shared a photo of his reunion with Imade on Instagram, captioned, “Best day of my life.”

Meanwhile, the singer also recently addressed his social media popularity. Speaking in a conversation with BET Talks, Davido claimed he is the most-followed African artist on social media due to his open-minded nature and willingness to engage with fans.

He stated that, unlike many of his colleagues who are hesitant to be authentic online, his relaxed and free-spirited presence on social media has earned him widespread admiration and a large following.
