Afrobeats star Davido and popular APC praise singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara have exchanged words on social media following criticism of Davido’s outfit at a FIFA World Cup countdown event.
The disagreement started after Rarara shared a video questioning Davido’s choice of a customised jacket worn during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Countdown Concert.
In the video, Rarara accused the singer of drawing international attention to Nigeria’s security challenges and alleged that the move was politically motivated.
He argued that Davido’s action could embarrass the administration of President Bola Tinubu and reportedly suggested that authorities should investigate the incident.
Rarara also described the singer’s conduct as inappropriate, claiming that such actions would not be tolerated in some other countries.
The comments quickly sparked reactions online, with supporters of both men debating the issue across social media platforms.
Davido later responded through his X account, appearing to mock Rarara’s pronunciation of his name.
The exchange escalated when Rarara replied in Hausa, writing, “Kashiga taitayinka,” which translates to “Mind your own business.”
Davido then fired back in Hausa, writing, “Da ace kana da ilimi da na tsaya nayi magana dakai. Ama komai baka sani ba, sakarai kawai.”
The statement translates to: “If you were educated, I would have continued talking with you. But you know nothing, just keep quiet.”
The social media clash has since generated widespread reactions from Nigerians, with some praising Davido’s response while others defended Rarara’s criticism.
The latest exchange adds to a series of public controversies involving the singer, who recently attracted attention after expressing interest in investing in the Dangote Refinery project.
Neither Davido nor Rarara has issued any further statement on the dispute as of the time of filing this report.
