Davido has taken a swipe at Musiliu ‘MC Oluomo’ Akinsanya, the national president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, after the union leader opposed Osun State Government’s decision to suspend the union’s operations across the state.
In a recent post shared on his Instagram Story, Davido questioned the union leader’s intentions, writing: “@kingmcoluomo dem say u Dey game… I doubt lol look ur mirror.”
The singer’s remarks follow a directive issued days earlier by Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun and Davido’s uncle, who ordered the immediate suspension of all NURTW activities in motor parks across the state.
On 24th of July, the governor cited security deliberations and directed the police to halt levy collections by the union at all parks. He also ordered security agencies to arrest any individuals posing as union officials.
“I hereby direct the Police and other security agents to stop all activities of the union in all our parks across the state. I’m not saying you should close the parks, but you should not allow anyone to operate in the parks in the name of the union. Anyone found contravening this order should be arrested for disturbance of public peace,” the governor stated.
MC Oluomo responded to the governor’s order by arguing that Adeleke lacks the constitutional authority to suspend the union’s operations in the state.
Speaking through his deputy, Aliyu Issa Ore, MC Oluomo rejected the suspension, arguing that state governors lack the legal authority to halt the activities of a national union.
Reacting to the union leader’s statement, Davido mocked MC Oluomo on social media over his comments regarding the state government’s executive order.
“MC OLUOMO WEY NO FIT COMPOSE SENTENCE DEY TALK 😂 KUDOSUUUUU,” Davido wrote.
The exchange comes as Osun prepares for its August 15 gubernatorial election, in which Adeleke is seeking a second term under the Accord Party.
Davido has actively supported his uncle’s campaign, having been appointed head of youth mobilisation for the party’s campaign council in April. In June, the singer vowed to resist any attempt to manipulate the election. More recently, he accused former governor Gboyega Oyetola of political desperation and plotting to cause unrest in the state.
