PHOTOS: Dare Akande promises to support education in Oyo

The founder of the proposed American Polytechnic of Nigeria, Wasinmi, Dr Oludare Akande has promised to support the efforts of Engr Seyi Makinde in promoting quality education and fighting illiteracy in the state.

The America-based philanthropist said this during the opening of the Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council at the Press Centre where he was installed as the Patron of the council.

Akande said:

“We will support the effort of the governor by paying for SSCE of 500 students in the state secondary schools for the 2020/2021 session. And I am bringing the American Polytechnic of Nigeria to Oyo state to bridge the knowledge gap of students of the state”

Governor Seyi Makinde was installed as the Grand Patron of the council and Chief Dotun Sanusi was also inaugurated as a patron.

The event had in attendance the Alaafin of Oyo, HIs Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Senator Kola Balogun, Secretary to Oyo State Givernor, Mrs Adeosun, Commissioner for Information and other dignitaries across all works of life.
Makimde, in his speech charged NUJ on effective communication of developmental goals to a largely illiterate population and curtailing fake news.
