The Aliko Dangote Foundation has launched its 2025 Annual National Food Intervention Project, a N16 billion initiative aimed at providing food relief to one million vulnerable Nigerians across the country.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Kano on Thursday, the Chairman of the foundation, Aliko Dangote—represented by his daughter, Marya Aliko-Dangote—described the initiative as a demonstration of compassion, solidarity, and shared responsibility in addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges.

“The distribution of one million bags of 10kg rice to the poor and most vulnerable Nigerians across the 774 Local Government Areas aligns with the core values of our foundation,” he stated.

Dangote emphasized that the foundation is working closely with state governments to ensure that food items reach those who need them the most.

“Our foundation focuses on improving the living conditions of Nigerians by implementing projects that address hunger, water supply, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment at the grassroots level,” he said.

While commending the government’s ongoing efforts to tackle food insecurity, Dangote urged other industrialists and private firms to contribute to the fight against hunger by initiating similar intervention programs.

“There is a need to complement government efforts in fighting hunger and poverty through a strong public-private partnership,” he added.

The Annual National Food Intervention Project is one of several humanitarian programs by the Dangote Foundation, reinforcing its commitment to social welfare and poverty alleviation in Nigeria.
