Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has shared a close relationship with his family for decades.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Davido made the revelation during a recent interview in Lagos while speaking about his personal relationship with the businessman and the advice he has received from him over the years.
The singer said Dangote’s connection with his family stretches back to the period of his birth.
“Aliko Dangote drove my mom home from the hospital when she gave birth to me,” Davido said.
Dangote advised Davido to save money
Davido said the billionaire has continued to offer him financial advice whenever they meet, particularly about the importance of saving and managing his earnings.
“Anytime I see him, he still tells me, ‘David, save your money.’ He’s been saying that since I was a baby,” he said.
The singer noted that the advice has remained relevant as his career has grown and he has navigated the financial demands that come with success in the entertainment industry.
Davido also described extremely wealthy people as more ordinary than many members of the public might imagine, saying their lifestyles do not always match popular perceptions of billionaires.
Family relationship spans decades
The “Fall” crooner explained that Dangote is a longtime associate of his father, businessman Adedeji Adeleke.
According to Davido, the relationship between both families began long before he became a successful musician and has continued into his adulthood.
The singer’s account offers another glimpse into the longstanding friendship between the Dangote and Adeleke families, while highlighting the financial guidance he says the billionaire has consistently given him since childhood.
