Dangote arrived Lagos journey with nothing 45 years ago – Sanwo-Olu
Alade Abayomi Adeleke
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that the Chief Executive Officer, Dangote Refinery, Aliko Dangote, came to Lagos 45 years ago with nothing.
Sanwo-Olu said this while addressing the audience at the Dangote refinery inauguration ceremony on Monday, at the Lekki Free Zone, in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
According to him, Dangote came to Lagos with nothing 45 years ago but has now built the biggest empire in the world for Africa.
He said, “A neighbour, a Lagosian, a Nigerian of no mean feet, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
“Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, today is May 22nd, 2023, Mr. President, exactly seven days from today, you will graciously, by the grace of Almighty Allah, be bowing out as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Mr President, if you don’t know, you have spent 2,915 days, out of 2,922 days that you have. Mr President, you have spent 99.98 per cent of your time.
“Mr President, history will certainly judge you well. We, in Lagos, are very happy with this your third trip to the free trade zone in less than a year.
“But today, it’s not only about you, it’s about three short stories that I will just quickly talk on. The first story is about a younger Nigerian, about 45 years ago, and you will see the coincidence in the story… 45 years ago, who came to Lagos all the way from another mega city in our country, Kano, who saw the prosperity, the diversity of our country, who came with nothing but has built the biggest empire in the world for Africa.”
