Customs arrest Niger Republic national with three ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags of tramadol worth N30m in Kano
The Nigeria Customs Service [NCS], Federal Operation Unit, Zone ‘B’ Kaduna, has arrested a Niger Republic national with Tramadol worth N30m.
The suspect, Sahabi Adamu was apprehended with three bags of ‘Ghana Must Go’ filled with tramadol tablets.
The Federal Government had banned tramadol tablets because of the danger to Nigerians, especially in the northern parts of the country.
Addressing journalists on Thursday in Kaduna, the Comptroller, Sarkin Kebbi, put the street value of the banned substance at N30m.
He said the three Ghana must go sacks contained 1,146 packets of 225mg of tramadol tablets.
He said the arrest carried out in Kano, was made possible through a tip-off which lasted for more than 30 days, noting that the suspect syndicate group which specialises in the distribution of the banned drug in Kano and neighbouring states.
He said,
“One suspect Sahabi Adamu was arrested in Kano along Kano- Hadeja road with three Ghana must go sacks with tramadol tablets packed in a Honda Accord vehicle with street value put at 30 million Naira.
“The FOU has been on his trail for almost one month now until luck ran out on him and got arrested in Kano.”
He said the suspect ha confessed to the crime, saying that he had been in the business for decades before his arrest.
