Some suspected cultists killed Fatai Kehinde, a 48-year-old PoS operator and son of the Baale of Kuto Community, Abeokuta, late Friday night.
Fatai, also known as Faithy, was attacked under the Kuto bridge after being chased from his shop inside the Kuto market according to the PUNCH.
The murder comes just days after another young man, a barber, was killed at Isale Oja Kuto.
It is believed that both killings were carried out by the same cult group because the same vehicle was used in both incidents.
A reliable source from the Kuto community who chose to be anonymous recounted the event, stating, “The killing happened last night at about 11 pm. He is popularly called Faithy, and he operates a PoS shop. He was about to close for the day when his killers arrived at his shop.”
The source continued, “One of the attackers pretended to be a customer wanting to withdraw money. When Faithy came out, about three other men wearing masks emerged and shot at him. He tried to run away, but they caught him under the Kuto bridge and killed him.”
The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the incident on Saturday. He said, “The command is aware of the two incidents, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the killings.”
Faithy was buried on Saturday at around 2 pm. The community remains in shock as investigations continue.
