A heated online feud has erupted between popular socialite Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, and Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, famously known as Burna Boy.
The drama began on Friday when Burna Boy made a cryptic Instagram post seemingly targeted at Cubana, referring to him as “Owerri Rick Ross” and making allegations of illegal activities.
Burna wrote, “No forget say u be Azaman o. And dem don gbe your plug wey him name na ‘Omo Igbo’ for ATL, and na u be next #OwerriRickyrozay.”
Many believe Burna’s jab was linked to Cubana’s close friendship with singer Davido.
Cubana Chief Priest did not hold back, responding with several posts where he mocked Burna Boy.
“Diddy oil the fastest way to PTSD. You never see anything, you and your bend down collect Grammy,” Cubana wrote, referencing Burna’s Grammy win.
He also shared old videos of Burna Boy performing at one of his events in 2018. Cubana claimed he paid the singer ₦1 million to perform as a backup artist at his birthday party.
“2018 na ₦1 million I pay you to perform as backup artist for my birthday. I get pictures and videos where you dey perform for me. We don dey chop this money before you meet us for queue. Be humble, small boy,” Cubana stated.
Cubana accused Burna Boy of owing debts for luxury items, including jewelry and cars.
He wrote, “The Ferrari’s. The London jewelers’ debt. I’m coming. I have long waited for this moment.”
Burna Boy denied the accusations, asserting that he pays for all his purchases upfront.
“Everybody in Lagos knows my style. All my stuff is paid for, sometimes in cash. If not, I for dey all the blogs by now for owing debts like your boss,” Burna responded.
Burna Boy shared a video of Bethel Okechukwu, who claimed to be Cubana Chief Priest’s brother. In the clip, Bethel, a phone repairer in Alaba International Market, prayed for Cubana to remember him.
Using the video to taunt Cubana, Burna referred to Bethel as a “middleman” (‘Azaman’) and joked about “poverty” (‘Owu’) affecting him. Burna offered $30,000 to assist Bethel, asking fans to locate him.
Cubana hit back, questioning Burna’s priorities. He pointed out that while Burna claimed to have money to help Bethel, he had “forgotten the fan he allegedly kicked during his performance at the Greater Lagos Festival Countdown.”
Cubana pledged to assist the fan, describing him as a victim of “brutality and oppression.” He dismissed Burna’s gestures as insincere, claiming loyalty to those who stay true, referencing his support for Davido.
The feud has sparked debates online, with fans taking sides.
