Four accused persons were on Wednesday re-arraigned before a Plateau High Court in Jos for allegedly stabbing their friend, Joseph Gonsum to death during a scuffle.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the accused persons whose names were given as; Terry Kefas, Samson James, Emmanuel Jah and Patrick Nyam reside in Gada Biyu village.
The accused persons were first arraigned on September 22, 2017, and where charged with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide, an offence punishable with death upon conviction.
The prosecutor, N.S Miner, had told the court that the accused committed the crime on December 25, 2016, adding that the accused persons armed themselves with a knife and stabbed Gonsum in the stomach, leading to his death.
The prosecutor also claimed that the accused in a confessional statement made to the police admitted killing Gonsum, who just graduated from the university.
The accused persons while taking their plea, pleaded not guilty, and the judge, Justice I.A Ashoms, granted each of them bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The judge adjourned the case to April 27 for further hearing.
