C’Rivers man arrested for killing mother, dumping body in well

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a man, Mathias Amunde, for allegedly killing his mother in Obudu Local Government Area.

In a shocking video shared on Instagram by user isaacfayoseoriginal, Amunde confessed to using a stick to attack his mother alongside an accomplice named Walcot. After the killing, the duo dragged her body outside and dumped it in a well.

During police interrogation, Amunde admitted, “I and Walcot killed her. We killed her with a stick. Walcot has gone to his house. After we killed her, Walcot dragged her out of the house, and we jointly dragged her to the well. After we got to the well, I opened it, and we jointly carried her body and threw it into the well.”

The accomplice, Walcot, reportedly fled the scene after the act.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, confirmed the arrest during an interview on Monday. “Yes, he has been arrested. He will be transferred to the police headquarters for further investigation tomorrow (Tuesday),” Ugbo stated.

The police have promised to ensure a thorough investigation to uncover all details surrounding the tragic incident.
