Criticisms trail arrest of blogger by EFCC
For allegedly posting a damning revelation about the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on his blog abusidiqu.com, Abubakar Sidiq Usman was arrested by the anti-graft agency and the social media community are not taking it lightly.
FLASH! Nigerian blogger @MrAbuSidiq allegedly arrested by @EFCC_Nigeria @officialefcc over blog post.
— Kayode Ogundamisi (@ogundamisi) August 8, 2016
The Urban and Regional Planning graduate turned blogger had reported on his blog that regular members of staff at the EFCC were complaining that they are being bullied by the acting chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Magu. The blogger had reported also that DSS arrested one Air Commodore Umar Muhammed, accused of carrying out a blackmailing cartel on behalf of senior staff at EFCC and Office of the National Security Adviser.
While some people are calling for the immediate release of Sidiq, some others are reminding him of how he mocked others who were perceived as unjustly detained by the anti-graft agency.
See the reactions below.
