The Secret Service on Tuesday arrested a White House contractor simply identified as Edwards while trying to enter the building.
Reports said the name of the 29-year-old man who works at the White House was found to be in a criminal database.
The Secret Service said he was taken into custody at a checkpoint when an official discovered that his name was on a wanted list.
The Secret Service did not disclose the charge Edwards was facing, but the database of Prince George’s County showed that a man of the same name was charged with attempted first-degree murder.
The Secret Service did not also disclose the man’s job designation in the White House.
The SS said Edwards had been handed over to District of Columbia Police, which will later transfer him to Maryland Police.
