UPDATED: Robers attack banks, police stations in Osun

Armed robbers in Apomu and Ikire town in Osun State attacked two commercial banks and police stations on Wednesday evening.

Many persons were reportedly shot dead by the robbers, even though the State Police Command said that the number of casualties was not immediately available.

The robbers, according to The PUNCH were said to have entered the two towns from Ikoyi town and grouped themselves separately before the attacks on the police stations and banks simultaneously.

A resident of Apomu town who witnessed the incident but preferred not to be mentioned said he heard indiscriminate shootings around 5:30pm near the premises of a commercial bank located in the Oke-Ola Area.

Another resident said local hunters and policemen later engaged the robbers in a gun battle making them flee.

Spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed that a commercial bank in Apomu town, a police station in Ikire, as well as Ikire Area Command were attacked adding that she had yet to receive the number of casualties.
