COVID-19: Yobe overtakes Lagos as Nigeria records more infections
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has confirmed 51 new infections from six States including the Federal Capital Territory.
The agency also announced the recovery of 44 new COVID-19 patients, taking the number of discharged persons to a total of 154,687.
This was disclosed on the verified Twitter handle of the health agency in the early hours of Sunday.
The statement read: “Till date, 164,684 cases have been confirmed, 154,687 cases have been discharged and 2,061 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The 51 new cases are reported from 6 states- Yobe (19), Lagos (17), Rivers (8), FCT (4), Akwa Ibom (2) and Bayelsa (1).”
WuzupNigeria gathered that a total of 1,870,915 samples have been tested by the health agency nationwide since Nigeria recorded her index case on the 27th of February, 2020.
Lagos remains the epicentre of the deadly virus in the African country with 58,273 cases and 439 deaths followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 10,763 cases and 165 deaths.
A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities
