COVID-19: Two dead in Bauchi, 17 discharged
The Bauchi State Government on Wednesday announced the death of two people from coronavirus [COVID-19] complications.
The government also said 17 people were discharged after getting cured of the disease.
The Situation Room Update of the COVID-19 Emergency Operation Center in the Ministry of Health, Bauchi State revealed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday.
WuzupNigeria reports that the first patient since March 24th when the state recorded its index case, died on May 9th.
This brings the total number of deaths in the state to three.
The Situation Room Update showed that 17 more patients were also discharged after they tested negative twice for the coronavirus, bringing the total number to 23.
This is the first time such number of patients would be discharged in the state. The last number stood at seven.
According to the update, the total number of confirmed cases in the state is now 190 after eight new cases were recorded on Tuesday, while the active cases are 164.
The Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Rilwan Mohammed, confirmed the development.
He said the deaths were recorded in Azare, the headquarters of Katagum local government area of the state.
He said:
“We recorded two more deaths in the state and all of them are from Azare. This brings the total deaths in Bauchi State to three since our index case.
“We discharged some more patients who recovered after their results turned negative twice. Eleven of them are from Azare alone, two are from here (Bauchi) while the remaining are four.
“By the time you add up all these, you will discover that so far, Bauchi State has discharged 23 recovered patients.”
