Covid-19: SUBEB begins radio classes for pupils in Ondo
To ensure that the pupils in Ondo State continue learning while at home during the compulsory holiday, the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board has commenced airing of lessons for primary school pupils on the radio.
The state government had declared a compulsory holiday for educational institutions in the state until further notice as part of the efforts to prevent the outbreak of the coronavirus disease in the state.
In a statement issued by the chairman of the SUBEB in the state, Princess Oladunni Odu, on Thursday, in Akure, the state capital, the radio programme would be aired on Orange FM Akure.
According to her, the programme was a strategic effort of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu administration to keep the pupils busy while at home and to reduce the negative impact of school closure, and most importantly to keep the pupils abreast of their school curriculum.
She said,
“The programme is designed to teach English Language studies and mathematics for now and subsequently, general paper will be included.”
She further explained that the programme would run every day, except Sunday, starting from Thursday, April 2, 2020.
Odu urged the parents and guardians to ensure that their children listened attentively to the educational programme and participate actively in the learning process.
