Mrs. Bunmi Falodun, Head of Department, Female Surgical Ward, State Specialist Hospital, Akure, has said the hospital was attending to patients, in spite of the stay-at-home order by the state government.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Akure on Tuesday, Falodun, who said that the hospital was not on total lockdown, explained that it was giving special attention to emergency cases.
Falodun urged government at all levels to make adequate provision for health workers, especially during this critical time.
“Health workers are facing difficult challenges now; more incentive should be given to them. This will enable them to put more effort in saving the lives of the people,” she said.
Also, a nurse working in the hospital, Mrs. Oluwafemi Temitayo, urged the government and non-governmental organizations to invest more in the health sector through the provision of modern health equipment and drugs in various hospitals to combat emerging diseases.
A visit to the hospital by a NAN correspondent showed that work was going on, while medical and health workers were attending to patients, although with strict adherence to all the necessary precautionary measures.
