COVID-19: Nigeria records 503 new cases, five deaths – NCDC

At least five new persons have died on Sunday as a result of complications related to COVID-19, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

While giving the daily update on its website, the NCDC revealed that at least 503 new cases of the deadly virus were reported from 19 states of the nation including the Federal Captial Territory – FCT.

Since the deadly virus was first reported on the 27th of February 2020 in Lagos, Nigeria has recorded a total of 146184 cases, 120838 recoveries and 1752 deaths, while Lagos, the commercial centre remains the epicentre of the deadly virus in the country.

The NCDC’s statement read: “On the 14th of February 2021, 520 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria

“Till date, 146184 cases have been confirmed, 120838 cases have been discharged and 1752 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory

“The 520 new cases are reported from 19 states- Ondo (120), Borno (41), Ebonyi (37), Benue (33), Plateau (30), FCT (29), Nasarawa (25), Ogun (25), Edo (24), Osun (24), Katsina (22), Kaduna (21), Niger (20), Kwara (14), Ekiti (13), Yobe (10), Oyo (4), Bayelsa (1), and Jigawa (1)

“A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.”
