COVID 19: NGO donates palliative, hand washing materials to Bauchi women
Fahimta Women and Youth Development Initiative (FAWOYDI), an NGO, has donated foodstuffs and hand washing materials to 250 women in five Local Government Areas of Bauchi State.
The Executive Director of the organization, Hajiya Maryam Garba, disclosed this during the distribution of the palliatives at Bogoro and Kirfi Local Government Areas on Sunday in Kirfi.
She explained that the gesture was meant to cushion the economic challenges of the beneficiaries as occasioned by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
According to her, items donated include rice, maize, and spaghetti to 75 women in Bogoro and the same to another 75 women in Kirfi, who were identified as the most vulnerable.
She noted that the organization also donated protective materials, such as handwashing facilities and facemasks to the beneficiaries to help in curtailing the spread of the disease.
Garba said the organization made similar donations recently in three other local government areas of Giade, Alkaleri, and Bauchi, where 100 other women benefited from the gesture.
She urged the women to comply fully with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) safety protocols and guidelines, such as regular handwashing, observing physical distancing and wearing of facemasks, in order to stay safe and healthy.
The Newsmen reports that the NGO’s gesture was in support of the Action Aid Nigeria.
