The Nigeria Center for Disease Control on Thursday recorded 80 new cases of the deadly coronavirus, taking the country’s total to 164,080 infections nationwide.

This was disclosed by the NCDC via its official social media handles in the early hours of Friday, April 16th.

According to the health agency, 15 new patients were discharged after fully recovering from the virus, taking the total number of discharged patients to 154,285.

There were no new deaths recorded in the last 24-hours as the death toll stands at 2,061 across the country.

“On the 15th of April 2021, 80 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria,” the NCDC said, adding that “Till date, 164,080 cases have been confirmed, 154,285 cases have been discharged and 2061 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”

“The 80 new cases are reported from 13 states- Lagos-29, Rivers-19, Zamfara-6, Akwa Ibom-4, Edo-4, Osun-4, Plateau-4, Ogun-3, Kano-3, Nasarawa-2, FCT-1 and Oyo-1.”

WuzupNugeria reports that a total of 1,838,174 samples have been tested nationwide since the country reported its index case on February 27th, 2020.

A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.
