Mr. Foluso Ojo, the Chairman of Oye Local Government Council of Ekiti, on Tuesday appealed to youths in the community not to violate the lockdown directives of the state government aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19
Ojo made the appeal during an interview in Oye-Ekiti.
He said his administration was passionate about the safety of the people and had set up measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 among the people.
The chairman urged the youths to adhere strictly to the directives of the local and state governments and avoid jeopardizing the good plans toward keeping the people safe.
” I want to sincerely appeal to our youths to stay in their respective homes and stop moving around to avoid being infected with the deadly virus.
” The lockdown was put in place by the state government in collaboration with the local government to keep the people safe and healthy.
“The security agencies have been given strict orders to prevent people from moving around except for the essential workers, so therefore, I do not expect the youths to violate these restriction orders,” he said.
Ojo assured the people that their health and well being would be given priority during the period of the lockdown.
