Twenty-one persons who violated the stay at home and restrictions of movement which commenced on Sunday have been convicted and sentenced by a mobile court set up by the Adamawa state government.

But on Monday, the mobile court, which the state government, said would be inaugurated to ensure compliance of its regulation on the restriction of movements, tried over 50 persons arrested by the state task force.

Twenty-one persons among those arraigned were convicted and sentenced to two hours of community service.

The convicts were ordered to sweep part of the Jimeta modern market in Yola.

Magistrate Daniel John, who handed down the judgment had acquitted 29 accused arraigned by the police.

He said the sentence was lenient because the punishment is to overburden the people.
