A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed March 18 to rule on an objection filed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited against a suit by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE over an oil import licence dispute.
Justice Inyang Ekwo set the date after lawyers from both sides presented their arguments and adopted their legal filings.
At the hearing on Wednesday, NNPCL’s lawyer, Ademola Abimbola (SAN), told the court they were ready to proceed with their objection, which was filed on November 15, 2024.
He urged the court to strike out the suit, arguing that the court lacked jurisdiction or, as an alternative, to remove NNPCL’s name from the case.
Dangote Refinery’s lawyer, John Ibrahim (SAN), opposed the objection, urging the court to dismiss NNPCL’s request. He said they had filed a five-paragraph counter affidavit on January 31 to challenge NNPCL’s claims.
After hearing both sides, Justice Ekwo adjourned the case to March 18 for ruling.
