A Lugbe Grade I Area Court in Abuja on Thursday sentenced two ex-convicts to one-year imprisonment for stealing N2,500 and a cell phone.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, sentenced Ogbonna Chinedu, 20 and Usman Mohammed, 20, without an option of fine for joint act and theft.
Delivering judgment, Sadiq warned the convicts to desist from committing crimes after serving their jail term.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Mrs. Ijeoma Ukagha, informed the court that on Feb. 23, Chimezie Joshua and Augustine Godswill reported the matter at Lugbe Police Station.
She said that the convicts snatched a Techno Y2 cell phone worth N35,000 from Joshua and also stole N2,500 from Godswill at Lugbe.
She said that the offense contravened the provisions of Sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code.
