An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of two men, Musa Umaru, 30, and Lawrence Ogang, 27, over the alleged robbery of a car worth two million nairas.

The court did not take the plea of the defendants as the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Ejiro Kubeinje,  said she needed advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Kubeinje directed the prosecution to duplicate the case file and send it to the DPP.

She adjourned the case until Dec. 14 for mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Bisi Ogunleye, told the court that the defendants, whose addresses were not given, were charged with conspiracy and robbery.

Ogunleye alleged that the defendants and others still at large committed the offenses on Sept. 23 at Lekki, Lagos.

He said that the defendants attacked one Mr. Kingsley Amechi with dangerous weapons and robbed him of his Toyota matrix.

“The duo attacked the complainant with iron rods and cudgel and ran away with his car but they were later arrested,” he submitted.

The prosecutor noted that the alleged offenses violated Sections 299 and 297 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
