Court remands three businessmen for swindling Abuja resident of N8m

A Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja, has ordered that three businessmen, Yunusa Haruna, Abdullahi Adamu and Jude Chidiebere be remanded in a correctional centre for alleged forgery and cheating.

The police charged the defendants who reside beside Infant Jesus Church Iddo Sariki, Abuja, with joint act, criminal breach of trust, cheating and forgery.

The judge, Ismail Abdullahi, ordered that they be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Suleja, until Jan. 17, 2022 after they pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the complainant, Nafisat Popoola of No 45 Pipeline Kubwa Abuja, reported the matter at the Police Area Command, Kubwa on January 12.

Ogada said that sometime in October 2020 the defendants criminally conspired and forged a document and sold a controversial House at No 145 flat 1 Bayajida street Kubwa Abuja to the complainant.

He said that the defendants sold the said house for N8 million to the complainant and she paid them.

The prosecutor also told the court that police investigation revealed that the same property belonged to one Chinkerenwa Cordelia Anyalonwu.

Ogada further state that the offence contravened sections 364, 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
