A businessman, Ajah Johnson Uchenna, and his wife, Rosemary Uchenna, have been sentenced to a combined 22 and a half years in prison for drug trafficking by Justice Deinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Lagos.
This was announced on Tuesday by Femi Babafemi, spokesperson of the NDLEA.
The couple was first arrested on June 13, 2025, by DSS operatives in the Ojo area with 277.5kg of cannabis, also known as skunk. They were later transferred to the NDLEA.
Further investigations led to a raid on their home and a warehouse, where NDLEA officials recovered another 231kg of cannabis on July 1.
They were arraigned on a four-count charge for conspiracy, dealing, and storage of 414.2kg of the banned substance.
Justice Dipeolu sentenced Rosemary Uchenna to 17 years in prison without an option of fine, while her husband, Johnson, got five years on count one and six months with a N1 million fine on count four.
The court also ordered the forfeiture of N3.4 million found with them, which was confirmed to be proceeds from the drug trade.
