A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has granted popular socialite and nightclub owner, Mike Nwalie, known as Pretty Mike, bail in the sum of N50 million after he was arraigned for alleged drug offences.

Nwalie, who owns Proxy Lagos Night Club, appeared before Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa on Thursday alongside the club’s supervisor, 32-year-old Joachim Hillary.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency charged both men with conspiracy, unlawful possession of drugs, and allowing the use of the nightclub for illegal drug activities.

According to NDLEA’s prosecutor, Buhari Abdullahi, the offences took place on October 26, 2025, at Proxy Club, located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Abdullahi told the court that NDLEA agents recovered 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa and 177 cylinders of Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas, weighing about 364.662 kilograms in total during their operation.

He alleged that Hillary was found with 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa without lawful authority, while Pretty Mike allegedly permitted his club to be used for drug-related activities.

The offences, the prosecutor said, violated Sections 14(b) and 20(1)(c) and were punishable under Section 20(2)(b) and 12 of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty.

Defence counsel, Dr. B.S. Awosika (SAN), urged the court to grant bail on liberal terms, saying both men had no criminal record and would appear for trial.

He said, “The defendants have shown readiness to stand trial. The prosecution has not presented any strong reason why they should be denied bail.”

But the prosecutor opposed the application, arguing that the defendants failed to show enough material evidence to justify bail.

In his ruling, Justice Lewis-Allagoa said the defendants remained innocent until proven guilty and that the prosecution had not provided enough grounds to deny bail.

He granted each defendant bail in the sum of N50 million, with two sureties in like sum, who must swear to an affidavit of means.

The judge ordered that the defendants be released to their counsel until their bail terms were met and adjourned the case to January 14, 2026, for trial.
