JUST IN: Lagos court grants Mompha N200m bail

Dubai- based internet celebrity, Ismailia Mustapha, aka Mompha has been granted N200 million bail with two sureties in like sum.

WuzupNigeria reported that Mompha who reappeared before the Ikeja Special Offences Court is facing eight counts bordering on the offences of money laundering.

Recall that Mompha and his company, Ismalob Global Investment Limited were accused of an alleged money laundering of over N6 billion.

Justice Mojisola Dada has last week ordered Mompha to be remanded in the custody of the EFCC pending the hearing of his bail application.

However, after reappearing in court on Tuesday, Mompha pleaded “Not guilty” to the eight counts while his company, Islamob Limited (represented by Mompha) also pleaded “not guilty” to the first six counts.

Justice Dada accepted the bail application presented by his lawyer, Gboyega Oyewole (SAN).

The judge ordered that one of two sureties must own property valued at N100million within the jurisdiction.

Mompha will now be remanded at any Correctional Centre of his choice in the state pending the perfection of his bail conditions.

The court further ruled that his passport will remain in the custody of the court’s clerk.
