Gombe state Ministry of Health says it has put in place adequate measures to mitigate possible spread of Coronavirus.

According to press statement obtained by our correspondent on Sunday, the Gombe State Commissioner of Health Dr. Ahmed Gana, noted that Personal Protective Equipment have been procured  and placed in the Gombe international Airport and other sensitive places to prevent possible spread.

He stressed that this is in accordance with the mandate of Governor Inuwa Yahaya led administration.

The statement partly reads,

“The Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has placed the Public Health Emergency Operation Centre (PHEOC) in a state of heightened situation awareness and intelligence gathering.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) have been procured and placed at Gombe International Airport among other places.

Also, an isolation unit for airborne diseases has been designated while Health Care Workers are being trained to cope with the new disease.

“I want to enjoin the general public to imbibe the hygienic habits of frequent hand washing, cough etiquette and avoid crowded places because these have proven to reduce risk of spread of the disease.

The public is advised to remain calm and disregard unfounded information and myths being circulated especially in the social media while seeking for verified information from relevant authorities.

Any person with the symptoms described above should report to the nearest health facility for further assessment by health care workers.”
