There was chaos at the Peoples Democratic Party National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday when supporters of Samuel Anyanwu and Udeh Okoye clashed during a Board of Trustees meeting.
Both men are claiming the position of the party’s national secretary, causing division within the PDP’s National Working Committee.
The BoT meeting, led by Chairman Adolphus Wabara, was called to resolve the issue. It was attended by top party members, including the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagun, and former governors Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Ahmed Makarfi (Kaduna), and Sule Lamido (Jigawa).
However, the meeting turned violent as supporters of Anyanwu and Okoye engaged in a physical clash.
To control the situation, security was tightened at the PDP secretariat, Wadata Plaza, with police officers, soldiers, and operatives from the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps stationed at the venue.
