Cody Rhodes has confirmed that he has signed a new contract with WWE and revealed that he intends to bring his professional wrestling career to an end with the company.

The WWE Champion made the revelation during an appearance on the “Flagrant” podcast, where he discussed a range of topics ahead of the upcoming “Street Fighter” movie.

Rhodes is part of the cast alongside podcast host Andrew Schulz, with the film scheduled for release in theaters on October 16.

Rhodes made the announcement toward the end of the lengthy interview, seemingly catching even those around him by surprise. While discussing his plans for the future, he disclosed that he had recently reached a new agreement with WWE and intends to remain with the promotion for the remainder of his wrestling career.

“Forgive me if this is breaking news and please edit it if I’m not allowed to share, I just re-signed with WWE. So, I’ll end my wrestling career with WWE. But also, my wrestling career with WWE might continue because we are now, I just spoke to the New York Times about this and this was such a great moment to share, we’re now able to go do this stuff. So say I do have another project or two other projects, whatever it may be, I’m able to take a step away and I’m able to collaborate with WWE and I’m able to come back home.”

Although Rhodes confirmed the new deal, he stopped short of revealing its duration or any financial details. His previous WWE contract was reportedly signed in early 2024.

The latest agreement appears to provide Rhodes with greater flexibility to explore opportunities beyond wrestling without necessarily bringing his WWE career to a halt. That could allow him to take on additional acting roles and other entertainment projects while maintaining his relationship with the promotion.

Rhodes’ comments also suggest that WWE is willing to accommodate his growing profile outside the ring, potentially allowing him to temporarily step away for selected projects before returning to the company.

With his wrestling future now seemingly secured, Rhodes appears set to balance his position as one of WWE’s leading stars with an expanding career in Hollywood and other forms of entertainment.
