At least five top officials have emerged as the possible successor of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, who passed away tragically on Friday.

WUZUPNIGERIA reported that the CoAS, who was buried in Abuja on Saturday, died in a plane crash alongside 10 others, including the Chief of Military Intelligence, Brig-Gen. Kuliya, and Provost Marshall, Brig-Gen. Olayinka.

As Nigerians mourn and anticipate the announcement of the nation’s 22nd Chief of Army Staff who would lead Nigerians to victory against terrorism, banditry and kidnapping amongst other cases of insecurity, reports suggest that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) could snub ranks while selecting the new CoAS.
