The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has claimed that Christian communities in parts of northern Nigeria that supported Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election have now shifted their allegiance to President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Yilwatda attributed Obi’s support in states such as Plateau and Nasarawa to religious considerations that influenced voting decisions during the last election.

According to him: “Some states like Plateau, Nasarawa, and a few other northern states, Christian communities supported Peter Obi in 2023 mainly due to religious sentiment.

“Are those sentiments still there? The answer is no, Today, they are fully with President Tinubu from the governors to NASS members are with Mr President.”

The APC chairman also pointed to the party’s growing political strength since the 2023 elections, noting increases in the number of governors, lawmakers, and senators aligned with the ruling party.

He further stated that the South-South region, which largely supported Obi and the Peoples Democratic Party during the last election cycle, is now backing Tinubu.
