Country music star Chris Young has donated $100,000 to help those affected by the Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

The Music Star is also asking others to join him as he has started a GoFundMe project to this end.

Young lived in Arlington, Texas before signing with RCA records but his family and friends lived in the Hurricane Harvey path.

In a video posted on Twitter, Young said, “Texas has been hit hard by Hurricane Harvey. I’m donating $100,000 to relief efforts and hope you will join me.  http://www.gofundme.com/HarveyRelief .

“So many places are going to be dealing with so much damage and loss of life for a long time to come.

“I have friends and family there,” he continues, “and I’m fairly positive my house down there may have to be torn down as it was in one of the hardest hit areas by wind and flooding.

“But that’s the least of my concern. I’m worried about the people there — like I said, my friends, family, neighbors — and I want to help.

“In times like these, you turn to your friends to help those in need,” Young says at the end of the video. “And that’s exactly what I’m doing. I hope you’ll donate. And Texas, we love you.”

He also made known that the donations through his foundation will benefit Red Cross and other relief groups.

So far, the storm has claimed at least two lives.
