Officers of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old mother, Ayo Sheriff, for allegedly burning her 16-year-old daughter, Aishat Sheriff, with a hot pressing iron.
Reports said Aishat’s upper and lower right limbs were burnt by her mother for telling her boss that she collected the sum of N250 from her.
It was gathered that Aishat was given the sum of N500 by her boss with an instruction to hand N200 to someone on her way home, then use N50 as transport fare and return the balance of N250 the next day.
Aishat, however, defaulted on the day she was supposed to return the balance of the money to her boss, saying the money was with her mother.
The boss called her mother on the phone and she denied knowledge of the money.
The angry mother waited for her to return home from work, and when she got back, her mother reportedly plugged an electric iron and waited until it was red hot and use it on her.
The mother reportedly accused her daughter of being a disgrace to the family.
Police said the suspect would be charged to court tomorrow, April 30th.
