Embattled American singer and songwriter, R. Kelly, has been arrested by police in Chicago over 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four alleged victims.
Kelly was seen walking into the police precinct surrounded by bodyguards with a sombre look on his face, People reports.
Chief Communications Officer Anthony Guglielmi confirmed the news on Twitter, it reads,
“Singer/songwriter Robert Kelly (R. Kelly) is under arrest and in #ChicagoPolice custody in reference to the indictment announced by Cook County state’s Attorney Kimberly Foxx.”
“The defendant will appear in court tomorrow afternoon,” Guglielmi added.
“For clarification on the CPD arrest process: Mr. Kelly will be fingerprinted, photographed & processed tonight. He will remain in Chicago police custody. Tomorrow morning he will take a prisoner transport to Court where custody will be transferred to the Sheriff of Cook County.”
Kelly’s attorney Steven Greenberg did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
