Chelsea held to goalless draw at Bournemouth

Chelsea could not find a way past Bournemouth on Saturday as both teams settled for a 0-0 draw in their Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium.

The result stopped Chelsea’s scoring run, which had lasted since the opening weekend. It also stretched their unbeaten away form to seven matches across all competitions.

Bournemouth, who have not won any of their last five league games, started the match with more urgency. In the fourth minute, Antoine Semenyo thought he had given the hosts the lead, but the goal was cancelled for a tight offside call.

Chelsea later settled into the game, but their rhythm dropped again after Liam Delap went off injured in the 32nd minute.

The home side continued to create the clearer chances. Just before the break, Robert Sanchez made an important save, pushing away Evanilson’s close-range shot. Chelsea did not have a shot on target in the first half.

The Blues improved after the restart but still struggled to trouble the Bournemouth defence. Their midfield found it hard to open up space, and the chances they did create were quickly stopped by the Cherries’ back line.

Both teams had late openings, but none was enough to change the scoreline.

Chelsea finished with 54 percent possession and 10 attempts, only two of which were on target. Bournemouth had eight shots, with three testing Sanchez, but they also failed to score.

The draw keeps Chelsea in sixth place, while Bournemouth remain close to the relegation places and still looking for a league win.
