Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been given a one-match touchline ban after collecting his third yellow card of the season, according to a report by the BBC on Monday.

The 45-year-old Italian was booked on Sunday for his excited celebration after Pedro Neto scored a last-minute goal that gave Chelsea a 2-1 win over Fulham.

The win pushed Chelsea into fifth place on the Premier League table, which is the final spot for the UEFA Champions League. They are now ahead of Nottingham Forest only on goal difference.

However, Forest could reclaim the position if they avoid losing to Tottenham later on Monday.

Maresca had earlier received yellow cards during matches against Newcastle and Bournemouth. Because this was his third booking, he will not be allowed to stand on the sidelines when Chelsea play Everton at home on Saturday.

He is expected to return for Chelsea’s next match against league leaders Liverpool on May 4.

In his absence, Chelsea’s assistant manager and former goalkeeper, Willy Caballero, is likely to take charge on the touchline during the Everton game at Stamford Bridge.
