The Blues put up a dominant display in both halves as they outclassed Carlo Ancelotti’s men who came into the game in fine form.

Everton fell behind to an own goal in the first half after Kai Havert’s shot deflected off Ben Godfrey in the 31st minute.

The German almost capped his fine display with a goal to his name but his effort was ruled out by VAR due to a handball before he scored the goal.

Chelsea got their second of the night through a penalty after Havertz was fouled in the Everton box. Jorginho converted the spot-kick by sending Jordan Pickford the wrong way with his trademark hop.

The defeat marked a frustrating return to Stamford Bridge for Carlo Ancelotti whose Everton side only recorded one shot on target compared to Chelsea’s nine.
